Origins: A tomato that can be traced back to the 1800s, this is a pink beefsteak tomato. It is unusual because it is a potato leaf tomato. It can be traced back to a Burpee’s catalog in 1886. However, it became largely unavailable until an Ohio Gardener Ben Quisenberry brought it to the Seed Savers Exchange. He received his from Dorris Sudduth Hill who could trace this tomato back over 80 years.
Characteristics: Very large 1-2lb tomatoes, very fleshy.
